We were charged with inviting Chicagoans back to the MCA for an incredible retrospective by Chicago artist Nick Cave, Forothermore. The work is all about evoking feeling from viewers and celebrating “others.” We crafted a campaign approach that brings that message to life with provocative questions and an immersive activation, made with a totally custom interactive AR display.
The artist liked our campaign articulation “Others Welcome” so much, they made it a key part of their own work and outreach around the exhibit, including putting it on the front of the MCA.
Nick Cave’s Forothermore is an ode to those who, whether due to racism, homophobia, or other forms of bigotry, live their lives as the “other.”
It’s a celebration of the way art, music, fashion, and performance can help us envision a more just future.
